The first of the JF Zero Waste Collection. We save all of our fabric scraps from the Jean Franklin clothing line and upcycle them into other sustainable pieces like this handmade rag rug.
First, we make large ball of yarn out of fabric scraps from our jumpsuits, dresses, and tops, and then hand crochet a round rug with deadstock twine. Each rug is unique and requires several hours of labor and close attention to detail to get the twine and fabric spacing just right...
This rug has a 35" diameter and is perfect for small spaces or as an accent piece in a larger room. Made from deadstock fabric scraps - rust cotton corduroy, blue denim, and twine. Each rug takes 24+ hours to hand-crochet and is made in Los Angeles.
Care Directions: Spot clean with warm water and dish soap; Take to a professional green dry cleaner periodically.
Zero Waste & Sustainability
With every purchase you save beautiful unused (deadstock) fabric from being carted off to landfills by other fashion brands. These fabrics are only available in small quantities, keeping your item unique and never mass-produced. And you’ve cut out all the water and energy usage typical of new fabric production. You're helping us create a zero waste business by purchasing pieces like this rag rug made from fabric scraps. Which means zero waste from your purchase ends up in a landfill.
Ethical
Everyone at Jean Franklin is paid fairly. In return, you get lovingly crafted pieces created right here in Los Angeles.
